For superhero fans, all eyes are currently on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the wild events of Avengers: Endgame. But while the Infinity Saga has concluded, there's still plenty to come from the DC side of things. The DCEU has been making serious changes, stepping away from crossovers and serialized storytelling in favor of director-driven capsule projects.

This was a method that worked out great for Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, which was the first critical success from the shared universe. Diana Prince's story really resonated with audiences, and the movie was a massive success. Jenkins is reuniting with Gal Gadot for the highly anticipated sequel Wonder Woman 1984, and just shared a new still from the movie in celebration of Gadot's 34th birthday. Check it out.

Diana Prince is back, and she's looking fly as hell. When we followed the events of Wonder Woman, the title character was a fish out of water in the world of men. But it's been decades since she first left home, so this new image from Wonder Woman 1984 teases a much more confident version of the Amazonian princess.

Patty Jenkins' birthday post offers a rare glimpse into Wonder Woman 1984, as the sequel's contents have been largely kept under wraps. While conversation about Wonder Woman's sequel began immediately after the first film arrived in theaters, Jenkins has taken her time bringing the highly anticipated blockbuster to theaters.

In fact, Wonder Woman 1984 was originally going to arrive this coming November, before eventually being pushed back. The answer was largely chocked up to development and scheduling issues, as Patty Jenkins recently directed the TNT series I Am the Night. The film was rescheduled to arrive in theaters on June 5th 2020, which almost the same date the original movie had back in 2017. And that's a fact that seems to thrill Jenkins.

The story of Wonder Woman 1984 is largely a mystery, but the upcoming blockbuster should put the title character in conflict with the Soviet Union, and into the conflict of the Cold War. The movie will also somehow bring back Chris Pine's Steve Trevor, while debuting Kristin Wiig's villainous Cheetah. There's some exciting balls in the air for Wonder Woman 1984, which is why the fandom is so eager for any new information or images.

Unfortunately for the rabid fans, Wonder Woman 1984 is still over a year away from theaters. So we it'll probably be a while before Warner Bros. releases any footage of Patty Jenkins' return to the DCEU.

In fact, Wonder Woman 1984 isn't even the next release to come from the shared universe. That honor goes to Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), which will feature a cast of primarily female DC characters. Although the idea of two female-led DC movies in a row is certainly an exciting one.

New Details On The New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Characters

This summer sees the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the sequel to 2015's smash hit Jurassic World. As has been true with every film in the Jurassic Park/World franchise, the dinosaurs are again the selling point, and Fallen Kingdom boasts a terrifying new dinosaur to frighten and entertain audiences. But while the dinosaurs may be what get you in the door, it is the characters that make or break the film. This sequel boasts a large cast of returning favorites and new faces, and we now have a much better idea of who the characters are that will be joining Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing and Chris Pratt's Owen Grady.

First up is the character of Franklin Webb, played by Paper Towns' Justice Smith. Part of Fallen Kingdom's story will have to do with the animal rights organization, the Dinosaur Protection Group, that Claire Dearing founded after the events of Jurassic World. Franklin Webb works with Claire at the DPG as an IT guy. According to Slash Film, Franklin is basically the opposite of Owen Grady. He is not an adventurer, and like most computer nerd clichs, he is no fan of being exposed to nature. All of that makes his choice of place to work an odd one. I don't know why Claire needs an IT guy on the dinosaur rescue mission, but as we can see from the trailers, Justice Smith's character will be providing plenty of screams and some of the humor in this film.

Next we have the character of Zia Rodriguez. Portrayed by Daniella Pineda from The Originals, Zia is a paleo veterinarian who also works for Claire's nonprofit dedicated to saving the dinosaurs from extinction. Once hoping to become a Jurassic World intern, Zia has yet to see a dinosaur in person after the incident at the park complicated her career path. Even though she hasn't seen one, her love for dinosaurs is unwavering and she is a fierce advocate of saving the dinosaurs from the threat on Isla Nublar. Apparently her exuberance makes for a fun pairing with Franklin Webb and the two have a humorous dynamic.

Also joining the cast is a man who needs know introduction, veteran actor and Academy Award nominee James Cromwell. The Babe actor joins the film as Benjamin Lockwood, the former partner of Jurassic Park founder John Hammond. This character will play an interesting role in the film, as he has to deal with the fallout from the incident at Jurassic World. He won't be an outright villain, but he will have somewhat questionable ideas about how to deal with the situation.

The Lockwood family looks like they will play a major role in this film as Isabella Sermon plays Maisie Lockwood, the granddaughter of Benjamin Lockwood. This is the little girl in the trailers that hides under the covers as the Indoraptor enters her room. What the Indoraptor is doing there remains to be seen but I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the film, Benjamin Lockwood enlists the help of Claire and Owen to save his granddaughter.

As we saw in Jurassic World, the dinosaurs are just a force of nature from an era long since passed, but the villains are the humans who wish to exploit and profit off the creatures. Some of the new characters too concerned with whether they can than whether they should are Rafe Spall's Eli Mills and Toby Jones' Gunnar Eversol, seen at what looks like a dino auction in the trailer. Also playing an as-yet-unnamed and possibly the main villain role is Ted Levine. They join BD Wong's Dr. Henry Wu as the shadowy figures using dinosaurs for nefarious ends.

These character descriptions are interesting, and I'm especially curious about the story of the Lockwoods and what role they played in Jurassic Park's past and the current debacle. Of course, we can't talk about the cast of Fallen Kingdom without mentioning that Jeff Goldblum will also be returning to his most quoted role of Ian Malcolm. You can catch all of the new and returning faces, before they get eaten that is, when Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters on June 22.

This is it. Finally. Opening day for Aquaman. Do you think director James Wan has those first-day-of-school jitters? He's probably too much of a pro for that. But he did take time to honor the moment -- and all it took to get here -- while also adding a last-minute suggestion for moviegoers:

Good for him. He's right about the underdog status. HBO's Entourage boss even recently admitted they gave Hollywood actor Vincent Chase the Aquaman role because it seemed like the most ridiculous superhero choice. A lot of people doubted Aquaman could carry his own movie, but look at Arthur Curry now.

Aquaman just officially opened today -- December 21 -- in the North American market, which is currently still the largest in the world. (China will be catching up soon.) The film has already hit some major box office milestones overseas, including picking up nearly $200 million just in China alone. So far!

So James Wan and star Jason Momoa can fairly walk into the U.S. release with a bit of a swagger. They've already proven themselves around the world, although the domestic box office is sometimes rougher on comic book films. (See Venom.)

James Wan admitted he was a bit nervous about the stiff competition at the domestic holiday box office, including Mary Poppins Returns.

But so far critics and audiences have been pretty welcoming to Aquaman. James Wan seems to be a popular guy, and there's a sense that fans are rooting for him to succeed -- especially with so much past frustration in the DCEU between filmmakers and WB execs. Could the DCEU finally be on a steady path, with Aquaman and first looks at Shazam! seeming to impress?

An exhausted James Wan also took to Twitter a couple of months ago to announce when filming was finally complete on Aquaman. It took them two years to get to that point, and two more nerve-racking months to get to this opening.

And Aquaman is only getting started. James Wan said he wasn't contracted for a sequel, but it does seem very possible that one is ahead -- based on the early box office numbers, and just the fact that DCEU does like to continue stories in that way. Wonder Woman has her sequel coming out in 2020, and DCEU also has Harley Quinn's Birds of Prey and the next Batman movie among its upcoming options, but we know a million other DC projects are in the works.

It does seem like Aquaman 2 could be the cream that rises to the top, if that's what the filmmakers want. It wouldn't be the same without James Wan, but once we see these opening weekend numbers come in, Wan's team can present their own numbers to Warner Bros. Show him the money!

At the end of 2017's Alien: Covenant, after most of its crew had been killed, the Covenant continued its journey to Origae-6. One of the two survivors, Katherine Waterston's Janet Daniels, realized that the villainous David had tricked her just as she went into stasis. It's an exciting cliffhanger and set up for another Alien movie, which Katherine Waterston is down for, even if she is in the dark about the future of the franchise. She said:

I don't live in Hollywood, and I'm always usually the last person to know even what's going on in my own career. So, [I'm] probably not the best person to ask. But I did get some sense of where they thought they might like to take it when we were shooting Covenant, and it sounded really interesting. I would be absolutely game to do more if they wanted to have me. But that's all I know. I'm sure they've changed their minds anyway.

Katherine Waterston, who is no stranger to big franchises as one of the stars of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, would be on board to do another Alien film if that option presented itself. She also seems to have some inclination of what the idea was for the sequel to Alien: Covenant and was intrigued by it, but admits that she isn't tuned in to that and knows that things could have changed regarding such a project.

It's hard to know if Katherine Waterston's Daniels would have had much of a role in the Alien: Covenant sequel, given that film's ending and David essentially winning and neutralizing her. Also, Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw was the protagonist of Prometheus, but she was basically killed off-screen prior to the events of Covenant. So who knows if a similar fate would be in store for Daniels. Still, it would be cool to see her get a chance to give David what's coming to him.

Ridley Scott's Alien prequel series, for better or worse, has basically become about artificial intelligence and Michael Fassbender's David. We've heard different things about where the Alien: Covenant sequel, tentatively titled Alien: Awakening, was going to take the story, like seeing the Engineers return to take vengeance for David's genocide, but nothing's official and things could have changed.

Although Katherine Waterston admitted to The Playlist that she's the last person to know what's going on in her career and much less the Alien franchise, she's not alone. Alien: Covenant did not perform up to expectations financially and the future of the franchise, at least in its current iteration, is very much in question.

On top of that, the Disney-Fox deal is looming, and once it is complete, Disney will own the rights to the Alien franchise. It is a popular brand with name recognition, so you have to imagine the Mouse will want to take advantage of that eventually, but Disney may have entirely different ideas about what to do with Alien that may not continue the story Ridley Scott was telling.

Mark Hamill Reveals The Intense Security Around Star Wars Episode IXs Script

Everybody wants to know what's going to happen in Star Wars Episode IX. However, Lucasfilm wants to make absolutely sure that we don't find out. To that end, the studio has implemented some significant security measures to be sure the script doesn't get out. Mark Hamill recently discussed what some of these measures are, including making sure somebody stays with the script at all times. According to Hamill...

Nowadays it's like working for some secret deep state government organization, like being in the CIA. They're going to send rewrites over to Prague on this dark red paper that gives you a headache to read. They're going to fly [the rewrites] over with somebody from the company. They're going to come and give it to me and wait for me to read it before I give it back. So no pressure! You can't even keep it overnight. But that's the way it is now.

Some of these security measures have been used before. The dark red paper keeps the script from being copied as photocopiers will read the red paper as black and thus the pages won't come out.

However, at least one of these security measures is new. Mark Hamill reveals to EW that, on previous Star Wars films he was allowed to keep a copy of the script. However, on Episode IX he has not been able to do so. He has apparently seen the most recent version of the script, but he's not allowed to keep it.

While not mentioned, it's likely that Mark Hamill is also only given access to the parts of the script that he needs to see, and the rest is being kept from him, as that is a frequent method of protecting secrets as well.

It makes one wonder just how easy it is to make a movie like Star Wars Episode IX. Having a script to study and learn lines is a pretty basic part of the moviemaking process. However, if everybody had a script there would be more copies around then would be possible to keep track of. It would be much easier for one of them to disappear and end up online.

Apparently, Mark Hamill has yet to film most of his performance for Star Wars Episode IX. Production has been underway for some time, but since Luke Skywalker is apparently dead, odds are Hamill doesn't have a significant role in the new movie, though it's likely bigger than his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Of course, even these significant security measures don't stop the rumors from coming out, and some of those rumors certainly do prove true, which means that the script info does get out. It will be interesting to see if these extra measures do successfully prevent real information from getting out. The movie has to keep things under wraps for another year, which is certainly going to be difficult to accomplish.
