How Much Avengers: Infinity War May Make Opening Weekend

We're coming up on a very exciting time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the studio still riding on the wild success of Black Panther, the next installment is going to be ten years in the making. The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Infinity War will unite all of the shared universe's main characters for an epic battle agains Thanos, and the stakes could not be any more high. Aside from the fictional events of the blockbuster, the pressure is also on for Infinity War to make buckets of money both domestically and internationally. Some early estimates are beginning to come in, and it looks like the third Avengers movie is going to make some serious dough during its opening weekend.

The early estimates currently have Avengers: Infinity War tracking at a whopping $200 million for its opening weekend, which is already selling record amounts of pre-sale tickets. This would put Infinity War as the record holder for an April opening, beating out the likes of Furious 7 with $147 million. Now the question is whether or not the blockbuster can outgross Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, which took $292 million during its first weekend in theaters. Regardless, Deadline's opening estimates certainly indicate a win for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That being said, Marvel studios is no doubt hoping for some record breaking numbers with Avengers: Infinity War. The Russo Brothers have assembled just about every character imaginable (except Hawkeye?), which was no doubt a scheduling nightmare due to all the respective actors' schedules. But the last three phases of films have all led to this, with the long awaited crossovers and character pairings finally happening after years of patiently waiting.

The contents of Avengers: Infinity War have been highly secret, with the actors reportedly not given scripts or being privy to the film's contents aside from their own scenes. The Russo Brothers recently appealed to the fans on social media, begging them to respect the fandom, and not reveal any spoilers that could ruin the moviegoing experience. Because it's been such a long time coming, it would be a shame if trolls managed to ruin the highly anticipated blockbuster's contents.

With so many of the MCU's leading actors reaching the end of their contracts with Avengers 4, it seems like just about any character could die over the next two Avengers movies. The marketing for the movie isn't helping to ease tensions, as posters constantly tease the end to the universe, and one shot from the recent trailer shows Captain America in a very precarious position against the big purple guy.

Avengers: Infinity War will arrive in theaters on April 27, 2018. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
